The Government has announced that the groundsmanship trailblazer group, which is led by employers and supported by the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), has successfully developed a new Level 2 apprenticeship standard for the sports turf industry.
Trailblazers have been leading the way in carrying out changes to apprenticeships, working together to design world class standards and assessment approaches. The new ‘Level 2 apprenticeship: sports turf operative’ is the latest example.
The IOG is continuing to support the group with the development of an assessment plan which defines the high quality outcomes needed to achieve the new standard.
Commenting on the approval, IOG head of learning Chris Gray, says: “We are delighted that the Government has acknowledged the value the industry plays within society, having provided us with an ideal framework which also meets the needs of employers in supporting the country's economy.
“The future of apprenticeships in groundsmanship really is much brighter. Now we all need to continue working together to make it a real success.”
