Gardener/Groundsperson 

 

Client:
Brunel University London is situated in a 79 hectare campus within the London Borough of Hillingdon. The Green Flag award winning Grounds Department at Brunel is seeking to recruit a suitably experienced and qualified Gardener/Groundsperson to support the work of the University Grounds and Biodiversity team.

The Role:
Working within Commerical Services and under the supervision of the Grounds Team Leader, the successful candidate will assist in:

• Maintenance of the University’s landcape,outdoor sports pitches,biodiversity on any of the University’s land using sound recognised horticultural practice.
• Maintaining all grass areas following guidelines on cutting regimes,sesonal shrub pruning and hedgecutting including, minor tree work, leaf clearing and watering when required.
• Carry out all general horticultural maintenance on the University’s estate to a set standard, operating a wide range of professional equipment associated with horticultural and out door sports maintenance.

Working within a small but dedicated team, you will need to be a real team player, using your own initiative and demonstrating flexibility.

Essential requirements:
You will have an up to date knowledge of horticulture and the ability to identify common plants.  You will also have an up to date knowledge of the Health and Safety at work Act and COSHH as well as proven experience in a similar role. You will need to have the ability to prioritise work and multitask where needed. A full drivers licence is essential for this role.
