Based on feedback from our delegates, IOG Training Instructors and the National Governing Bodies of Sport who support and endorse IOG training courses, we are now introducing a brand new 4 tier training structure.
The content for each level has been revised and updated, to meet the needs of today’s grounds professionals, and will be delivered across all sporting disciplines, from Foundation to Management Level. The courses are aligned to the National Occupational Standards set out by the Sector Skills Council,Lantra, and Awarding bodies such as City & Guilds and NPTC.
All IOG courses are delivered by the industry’s leading professionals who are also fully trained IOG Training Instructors. Each course is supported by a comprehensive information pack to assist in the ongoing development of skills and practices.
All delegates will receive an Attendance Certificate or, on the successful completion of an online assessment, delegates will be awarded with a Certificate of Achievement appropriate to the level of the course.
For full details on the new 4 tier structure for IOG short courses, course content and full details of the optional online assessment and certification facility speak to a member of the training department directly on 01908 312511.
Foundation – One Day
A practical approach to the preparation and maintenance of a sports surface
Learn the essential operations of ‘best practice’ grounds maintenance with this hands on, practical induction to the profession.
The Foundation level course is suitable for new entrants (professional and volunteer) or those requiring a refresher course in the modern, practical techniques of preparing and maintaining sports surfaces.
Intermediate – One Day
The theory behind the practice of preparing and maintaining a sports surface
The theoretical knowledge gained on an intermediate level course will provide delegates
with the solid foundations of knowledge required by today’s grounds professionals,
enabling delegates to take a more proactive and autonomous approach to their grounds
maintenance duties.
The Intermediate level course is complementary to the Foundation level course, which
is a recommended precursor. It is suitable for practicing grounds staff who are keen
to gain further knowledge beyond the practical operations.
Advanced – One Day
Theory of Turf Culture
A knowledge of the science behind the skill enables problems to be identified more quickly and accurately and for appropriate solutions to be implemented. This approach will impact positively on time management, budgets and the ongoing sustainability of the surface.
The Advanced level course will suit practicing grounds staff who are keen to develop the scientific knowledge required to make long-term assessments in relation to the maintenance and management of the surface. It is also a recommended precursor to the Supervisory Management course.
Management of Sports Turf – Two Days
From Maintenance to Management
This two day course develops the core skills required by today’s professional Grounds Managers. As well as focusing on the techniques and principles required to produce a safe and consistent surface, the course also covers interpersonal and management skills as well as an update on relevant legislative matters.
The Supervisory Management course will be most beneficial to those in a senior or standalone position and those who are responsible for making assessments and decisions concerning the management of resources and the surface.
