The IOG has been working to develop training and educational opportunities for grounds staff since it was established in 1934. Today we are able to offer quality and professional short courses as well as internationally recognised qualifications in most areas of grounds maintenance and management.
We work closely with all relevant organisations in the UK and Ireland to promote these opportunities, to ensure the recognition of the profession and the need for quality standards for grounds and groundsmen. Over the last 15 years we have developed courses that are now endorsed and supported by all the major governing bodies of sport in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. More recently we have been working with the sporting authorities in the Republic of Ireland and will be delivering our first full programme of courses in Spring 2006.
With this support and endorsement
the IOG has designed a structured and progressive three-tiered scheme of
training courses to meet the needs of grounds staff for the management and
maintenance of sporting surfaces. Full details of all subjects and levels can be found in the 'Training Courses' section from the menu on the left. You can also check dates, venues and prices, and book online.
We also work in partnership with colleges and awarding bodies to ensure there are adequate and appropriate educational qualifications for all employment levels within the industry. A full list of contacts for colleges and other organisations can be found by selecting 'Useful Contacts' from the menu on the left.
If you are thinking about a change of job we can also help. We are able to bring you the latest industry job vacancies through Groundsearch Consultancy and the Groundsman magazine. Visit 'Latest Jobs' for all current vacancies and where you can subscribe to our 'job alert' email.
The IOG ensures that all of our products and services, including our training
programme, represent true value for money. As an organisation committed
to supporting our industry,
we re-invest in, and subsidise many of our courses in order to ensure access
for all.
If you have any queries about industry training and educational opportunities, career development, or would like to find out more about any of our courses, please contact a member of the Training & Education team on 01908 312511 or by email at training@iog.org.
