Becoming an IOG CPD Member

Having IOG CPD Member status demonstrates that you practice the highest professional grounds management standards by keeping your knowledge and skills current.

IOG CPD Membership is available at six levels to allow access for all and positively encourage professional skills development at all levels. Your entry level will be based on the level of your highest qualification and will be ranked according to the levels set out by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (www.qca.org.uk).

About the Levels

Your level of CPD will be confirmed to you once we receive your application, you should forward a copy of the certificate for your highest achieved qualification with your application. If you progress to a higher level in subsequent years you will be required to notify the IOG and supply the appropriate evidence by the end of that CPD year.

The levels available are:

  • Volunteer - All levels of qualifications
  • Level 1 - (Professionals Only), NVQ Level1, City & Guilds/NPTC Level 1
  • Level 2 - (Professionals Only), NVQ Level 2, National Technical Certificate, National Certificate Level 2, NPTC PA1 & 6
  • Level 3 - (Profesionals Only), NVQ Level 3, National Intermediate Diploma, Advanced National Certificate Level 3, Higher National Certificate
  • Level 4 - (Professionals Only), NVQ Level 4, Higher national Diploma
  • Level 5 - (Professionals & IOG Fellow Members Only), National Diploma in Turfculture First Degree, MSc

As an IOG CPD Member you will gain more credibility with employers and a competitive edge over your peers, helping you progress your career more effectively.

All IOG CPD Members are entitled to use the appropriate letters which will display your professionalism to your peers and employers. Once you have achieved a level of CPD you will be notified of the appropriate letters for your level.

Benefit to your employer

Many grounds professionals may also have a relevant sports turf or horticultural qualification but IOG CPD Members must ensure that they maintain and develop their grounds management skills and knowledge. IOG CPD membership will reassure employers that their employees will be experienced and will demonstrate first class skills which will result in improved and sustainable facilities.

How to Become an IOG CPD Member

Membership is open to any Full Member and any Associate or Corporate member employees. Simply download the record card below, then over a 12 month period record your 35 hours of CPD (details as what qualifies towards the required hours are on the back of the record card). Once your 12 months is complete forward the record card and completed application form to the IOG Head Office.

Maintaining your IOG CPD Member Status is simple; complete at least 35 hours of CPD each year, submit your record card and maintain your IOG membership. Should your membership be cancelled you will no longer be entitled to CPD status.
