Health & Safety

Introduction

The following sections on health and safety have been reproduced from the Health and Safety Booklet, written by Bill Blackborow in association with the Institute of Groundsmanship. Minimal changes have been made to make the presentation more appropriate for the web.

The information, procedures and systems contained in these sections are intended as a general guide to Health and Safety Management and its application by Sports Ground
Managers, Head Groundsmen and Supervisors.

The aim is to identify how the law relates to the individual and the work place and how compliance can be achieved. Each section determines what the law requires, provides practical recommendations and procedures and indicates the documentation and records that should be on hand.

This information does not replace or supersede any certification or training that may be required as a prerequisite for the carrying out of operations safely.
