GROUNDSMAN INDUSTRIES

The company has been producing and developing its range of Turf Cutters for over 15 years. The new Turf Multi Cutters (TMC) range is the third generation in this process and the machines encompass all the knowledge and experience Groundsman has gained to produce a product which really does tick all the boxes. The product excels in reliable performance, operator safety and comfort, ease of maintenance and repair, and value for money.

Models TMC2 and TMC4 are two- and four-wheel drive machines featuring exceptionally low operator hand-arm vibration levels. The syncro flat-belt blade-drive is quiet and smooth running and gives long service life (low maintenance). The oil-filled disengaging ground-drive worm gear is rugged and long lasting. Both models can be fitted with sod blades for 30, 35 40 or 45 cm wide cuts plus mole drain and de-compacter blades. The TMC2 is capable of cutting sod to a depth of 10 cms and mole-draining and de-compacting to 10 cms deep. The TMC4 can work down to 12 cms deep.

The TMC24 is fitted with 6.5 HP Honda engine; this two-wheel drive machine has been designed for general landscaping purposes but it also has the cut quality for fine turf work as well. It can accept 12, 14, 16 and 18 inch wide sod cutting blades plus mole and de-compaction blades to 8 cms deep. The machine is portable and
very simple to use, has excellent ground drive traction and will give an effortless high quality cut in all conditions. The latest model is fitted with a pneumatic tire caster wheel which swivels to enable curve cutting but can be locked with a flick of the foot for straight line cutting. This versatile machine can be fitted with a range of blades for mole-draining, soil de-compaction, border-edging and spike-rolling for thatch removal and over-seeding.

Groundsman celebrates two decades since the inception of its elliptical plunge action mechanism now used in its range of pedestrian and tractor-mounted turf aerators. It is 20 years since Billy Warke laid out his plans for an aerator mechanism with would move the tines in two directions using only one crankshaft – the path the tines follow as they plunge in and out of the ground is elliptical, like a rugby ball. The longer motion is vertical to drive the tines into the ground and the shorter motion is horizontal to move the tines backwards to allow the machine to travel forward without pulling at the tine while it is in the ground and therefore reducing surface disruption. The resulting mechanism was simple and extremely compact lending itself perfectly to pedestrian machinery. Many improvements have been introduced to this patented mechanism over the years but the basic concept remains unchanged.

In terms of pedestrian aerators, models 345MD and 345HD models are popular in bowls and cricket circles and the 460HD big brother is quite often being used by contractors or councils.

HAYTER/TORO

Taking pride of place among the equipment on the Henderson Grass Machinery stand will be two of the new Toro LT3340 high performance triples launched at IOG SALTEX – one with and one without a cab.Built on the success of its Hayter predecessor, the heavy-duty construction of the new machine will overcome the most demanding environments and the high performance cutting units provide the perfect finish every time.

The stand will also feature the CT Series of compact triples which have proved successful since their launch in 2010, The Groundsmaster 360, including the new cab and snow plough attachment, and the new Toro mid-size power unit.Among the many other mowers on display will be the new Toro HoverPro hover mowers and a wide selection of machines for the grounds and contract business including Grandstands, walk-behinds, ride-ons, zero turns and mid-size walk-behinds.

JIM’S MOWING

Jim’s Mowing will be exhibiting its garden maintenance franchise package.

Multihog

Since Multihog’s debut at last year’s IOG Scotsturf, the manufacturers of this versatile multi-purpose implement carrier have continued to develop even more attachments which offer an ever increasing range of applications. The number of customers now choosing Multihog for their groundscare and maintenance operations underlines the vehicle’s ability to set new standards when it comes to grass and hedge cutting, road sweeping and gritting, snow ploughing, chemical spraying and more.

The Multihog MH90 diesel-powered, hydrostatically-driven base unit is manufactured in Ireland, with an emphasis on robust operation, driver comfort and safety. It can be used with an almost limitless amount of attachments for a wide variety of tasks all year round. A top road speed of 40 kms hour and an impressive towing capacity of 3 tonnes guarantee a powerful performance, and drivers benefit from a large cabin with 360º visibility for safe and accurate operation.

Alongside the base unit, Multihog will be exhibiting a patch planer and sweeper, gritter and snow plough, flail mower and flail arm attachments, all of which can be changed in under two minutes thanks to Multihog’s quick release mechanism. True to the company slogan – one machine – one driver – endless applications – the Multihog maximises the efficiency of a single operator for enhanced productivity.

SHERRIFF AMENITY

Vision Pro is a new, revolutionary visual spraying aid and turf colourant that contains natural pigments (not dyes). Standard spray pattern indicators contain dyes, however the revolutionary pigment technology in Vision Pro increases solar radiation which increases soil and surface temperatures and creates a more desirable microclimate for growth. It increases the plant’s photosynthesis rate and also its metabolism in periods of slow growth. Applying Vision Pro in the autumn, winter and spring increases radiation absorbance and decreases reflectance, meaning increased photosynthesis.

The UV resistant formulation allows the product to last for up to 6 - 8 weeks in periods of slow growth.

Light coming into contact with objects (including grass) can either be reflected, transmitted or absorbed. Vision Pro reduces reflected light, increases radiation absorbance, leading to increased photosynthesis.

Vision Pro can be used on fine turf areas such as golf greens, tees and bowls greens. It can also be used on winter sports pitches (for colour effect use Green Lawnger) and racecourses.

Features:

Long lasting UV resistant formulation, up to 6 - 8 weeks

Contains ColorLock technology

Tank mixable with all plant protection products

Independently evaluated by the STRI (UK)

Extensively used in plant protection programmes in North America

Can be used all year round.

Benefits:

Increases turf quality and playability during periods of slow growth

Increases turf colour in the autumn, winter & spring

Clarifies what areas of turf have been sprayed with plant protection products

Instant improvement to the turf appearance

Creates a natural looking appearance to turf.

SIMON TULLETT MACHINERY

Simon Tullett Machinery offers a wide range of cutting and groundscare and maintenance machinery. The flagship of its success is the popular SCAG grass cutting range. Highly respected within the industry both the pedestrian and ride-on machines are built to withstand the rigours of landscape, amenity and estate work – there are HUMUS safety cut decks or STM’s own Superflail and Reel decks; designed and built entirely in the UK for rough or fine cutting.

Also on show will be the remote controlled Roboflail steep bank mower – this remote controlled, zero-turn, tracked mower is especially designed for difficult conditions. Good stability and manoeuvrability enable work on banks of up to 55deg in complete safety with no risk to the operator. The cutting deck options provide fine to heavy-duty grass cutting, ideal for highway maintenance, parklands and estate work.

STM also offers a range of maintenance units including the STM snow blade (a useful optional winter extra for the SCAG SWZ pedestrian mower) and Mahler’s Bemab snow ploughs.
