IOG supports skills development through Training Needs Analysis

The IOG has launched a new service designed to help managers and grounds staff map out a training and education journey. This service will benefit those that actively take part in an appraisal system, and those who adopt a more informal development programme with their staff.

By meeting with each member of a grounds team the IOG can draw up a unique learning plan for each individual, which helps employer to map out the future development programme for the whole team.

The Training Needs Analysis works alongside the IOG’s Pitch Grading Initiative, which enable grounds staff to meet both their own and their employer goals linked to team skills and quality sports turf surfaces.

Sean Williams, head groundsman at Gloucester County Cricket Ground has already made effective use of this service. “The recent analysis of staff at GCCC has enabled the club to consider training routes they were not aware of. This service is totally impartial and considers all training providers, not just IOG courses.
