Invaluable grassroots pitch care advice at Rockliffe Hall

More than 70 delegates from grassroots football and cricket clubs in the Northumberland and Durham area enjoyed a recent IOG educational day that focused on cricket pitch preparation and football pitch renovation at Rockcliffe Hall – home to a top class county cricket ground and Middlesborough FC’s training facility, as well as a championship golf course.

The day’s event consisted of an introduction to the Grounds & Natural Turf Improvement Programme by IOG regional pitch advisor Ian Powell, funding applicationadvice from Mark Woodall at Northumberland County FA, and informative talks from Middlesborough FC head groundsman Tony Bell, Durham CCC head groundsman Vic Demain and Pete Newton master greenkeeper and golf course manager at Rockliffe Hall.
