IOG Approved For Another Three Years As Delegated City
& Guilds
Senior Awards Authority
The Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), the leading membership
organisation for grounds professionals involved in the management of sports
pitches, landscape and amenity facilities, has been re-approved by City
& Guilds as a delegated authority to grant Senior Awards at Licentitateship
(LCGI) and Graduateship (GCGI) levels for a further three years.
This follows the IOG’s long-established working partnership with
City & Guilds concerning NVQs as well as the Senior Awards, and complements
the organisations’ joint development currently of Level 2 and Level
3 qualifications.
Senior Awards represent the higher levels of the national qualifications
framework and, unlike other professional and academic qualifications,
recognise practical and work-based experience – ie, knowledge, understanding
and skills gained in the workplace.
"In line with the IOG’s Challenging Perceptions strategy, the
IOG continues to be committed to embedding the Senior Awards into its
educational and professional development programmes," comments Ian
Lacy, Head of Professional Services at the IOG.
"The internationally-recognised Awards are comprehensive, progressive
and accessible, and the Awards framework recognises the constraints –
including time and budget - that confront many IOG members/Awards candidates.
The Awards represent an important element of any continual professional
development programme.’’
