Marshalls grows sales despite recession and poor weather
Hard landscaping supplier Marshalls has posted a 4 per cent rise in turnover to £323 million for 2010
This was despite an loss of sales valued at £5 million due to the poor weather a the end of the year, which also impacted on the company's UK quarrying operations.
Sales to public and commercial customers, which accounts for three-fifths of Marshalls' turnover, grew by 6 per cent, compared with just 1 per cent on domestic sales.
"In the public sector and commercial end market it is encouraging that our lead indicator continues to suggest an increase in the level of demand as we move through 2011," Marshalls said.
