New government good for turf managers but cuts could hit leisure spending : BIGGA
The belated signing of a deal between the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats has been welcomed by the British and International Green Keepers Association.
Speaking on the morning after David Cameron's ascent to Downing Street, BIGGA communications manager Scott MacCallum said: "BIGGA is hopeful that we will see a gradual upturn in the economy under the guidance of the new government and that as part of that the fortunes of golf, and the sports turf industry in general, will improve."
However Scott MacCallum warned of tough times ahead as the new government moves to slash the deficit as quickly as possible.
He added: "It will have a negative impact on our disposable income which in turn will reduce the money we have to spend on leisure pursuits."
