Tenants call for Camden garden

The NLA is urging the London Borough of Camden to turn the crescent in front of its Store Street office into a public green space

The "We Love Store Street" series of events, part of the Love Your Street Programme of the London Festival of Architecture, has shown that strong demand exists from local businesses and residents to transform South Crescent permanently, according to NLA director Debbie Whitfield.

"The festival has shown how it could be used differently," she told HW. "It's normally an underused car park - there's plenty more parking in the area. But just laying temporary turf and installing seating has made a massive difference.

"All the tenants want it to stay. It doesn't need expensive design - only a few people would have to contribute."

The centrepiece was a pavilion designed by local engineering firm Price & Myer, while turf was supplied by Kent-based Grasslands.
