New uses found for turf regulator
Groundsmen are finding new uses for Scott's Primo Maxx turf growth regulator, but only after "tweaking" its application
According to the company's technical manager Simon Barnaby - "When Primo Maxx was launched four or five years ago, the only plant growth regulators were used on bunker banks," he told a recent seminar organised by Scotts. "Now it's used all over the golf course and football pitches. But we have needed to tweak the dose to suit users' very different conditions."
Trials by Syngenta in Scandinavia showed that Primo Maxx reduced Microdochium compared with an untreated control area, he added. Trials of the regulator at Wimbledon have been underway since 2007. This year it was used successfully on outer championship courts will be used on Centre Court next year.
