Gardeners to get rid of sodium chlorate
New deadline set by Pesticides Safety Directorate for Gardeners
Gardeners must get rid of their sodium chlorate by 10 May

All gardeners must dispose of their personal stocks of sodium chlorate from their shed or garage by 10 May 2010, the deadline set by the Pesticides Safety Directorate.
Bayer Garden says those who have been using up their stocks will be coming into garden centres over the coming weeks in search of an alternative and recommends Bayer Garden's Advanced weedkiller range of Long Lasting Ground Clear, Super Strength Glyphosate and Tree Stump Killer.
Alison Mulvaney, product manager at Bayer Garden, said: "Garden centres, DIY stores and other retailers should make the most of this opportunity, highlighting the issue and signposting shoppers to the alternatives. Posters flagging the deadline at the entrance and in selected areas of the store and alternative products grouped into a display at the sales fixture, supported by well-informed staff, will focus attention on the issue and should help boost sales.
