The RHS Show Cardiff, the first RHS show of the season, begins in Cardiff on Friday (16 April).

This will be the sixth annual show for the RHS in the Welsh capital, and it contains show gardens created by the finest Welsh horticultural talent, the schools wheelbarrow competition supported by Legal & General, talks and demonstrations, expert advice and numerous plants and accessories for sale

Show gardens include Caroline Jones' (CJ Garden Design) Urban Sanctuary, sponsored by Brett Landscaping and Dunweedin'and built by Broxton & Moruzzi Landscaping.
This is an ornamental, low maintenance garden designed for a busy middle aged or retired couple who want to enjoy their garden but don't have much time to maintain it.
Caroline Jones of CJ Garden Design said: "Paul Moruzzi and I decided we would like to join together to do a show garden, as a means of showcasing our work to a wider audience. I have also visited the Cardiff show every year, and feel that it has great potential to attract a wide audience".
Another major show garden is Cardiff: Capital for Shopping a design by the host city council that first appeared at last year's RHS Chelsea Flower Show. The garden is a celebration of the city's major new £675m St. David's retail development that opened in October.
Sponsored by Alfresco Landscape & Garden, Barclays Commercial Bank (Cardiff) and Speedfast Tool Hire (Cardiff) and designed by Gaynor Witchard, Irene's Garden has been built by Alfresco Landscape & Garden. This tranquil courtyard garden in a rural setting belongs to a newly retired florist, who has brought elements of her former shop home to include in her garden.
The Spring Flowers garden is designed by Steve Mann Garden Design, while Cardiff's Foreshore is sponsored by Cardiff Harbour Authority and Pughs Garden Centre (Morganstown, Cardiff) and designed and built by Cardiff County Council – Ranger Service. The inspiration behind this garden is Cardiff’s foreshore and the type of plants that grow there.
