Workman Fighting for Life after being Crushed by Lawnmower

A council grass cutter was fighting for his life today after being crushed under an industrial lawnmower.

The 54-year-man suffered severe injuries to his chest after becoming stuck under the machine when he fell while cutting a grass slope.

Shocked passers-by, including an off-duty policeman, rushed to the man’s aid and managed to lift the heavy equipment off him.

Police cordoned off part of the road in Dudley, West Midlands, while paramedics treated the victim at about 4.30pm on Monday.

He was airlifted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with serious chest, leg and back injuries - which have been described as ‘potentially life-threatening’.
