The search is on to find the UK’s favourite Lottery-funded projects

People across the UK are being called on to nominate their favourite Lottery-funded project for recognition in The National Lottery Awards 2011

Now in their eighth year, the Awards recognise the incredible difference that Lottery-funded projects make to people, places and communities all across the UK. They also celebrate the talent, hard work and amazing dedication of the people involved in running them. Since The National Lottery began in 1994, over 350,000 grants have been given out across the arts, sport, heritage, charities, health, education and the environment.

This is your chance to tell your story...No matter how small or large your project is, you could be a winner. There are seven categories reflecting the main areas of Lottery funding:

  • Best Sport Project
  • Best Arts Project
  • Best Education Project
  • Best Environment Project
  • Best Health Project
  • Best Heritage Project
  • Best Voluntary/Charity Project

Last year, the Sport England-funded Children's Able and Disabled Sport (CADS) project from Cheshire and Greater Manchester won the Best Sport award. The Seashell Trust picked up the award for bringing young people of all abilities together to play sport.

The Awards are open for entries from 9am on Monday 10 January and any projects wishing to enter can do so by visiting the website. Entries must be received by 5pm on Friday 18 February.

The entrants that make it to the finals of The National Lottery Awards will receive national recognition at a star-studded event broadcast on BBC One later this year. They will also have a chance to win a £2000 cash prize.
