Sport England unveils asset transfer toolkit
Sport England has announced the launch of its new asset transfer toolkit in a bid to make it easier for community clubs to acquire ownership of land or buildings
The internet-based Community Sport Asset Transfer Toolkit offers bespoke facility that offers a step-by-step guide through the asset transfer process for community groups.
It is designed to support established community sports organisations and new groups which believe they can make better use out of unused or under-utilised public sports facilities.
Sport England worked with Locality, the UK network for community-led groups, to develop the toolkit, which provides information, resources and case studies.
Sport minister Hugh Robertson said: "I want as many community sports clubs as possible to have control of their own assets. This updated guide will help them achieve this."
Sport England chair Richard Lewis added: "For a club to have ownership of its own sporting facility, whether it is a playing field or clubhouse, can provide immense security both financially and practically."
