Sale FC Rugby Club will be host the England U18 v Italy U18 international at Heywood Road on Sunday, February 27, 1pm kick off.
The Club has teamed up with two local businesses; Slater Heelis Solicitors as Official Match Sponsor and Sunny Thinking as Marketing Partners, to bring international rugby to Sale and offer rugby followers the opportunity to watch some of England’s future legends in action.
Stu Giles, Chief Executive at Sale FC, is delighted to be hosting the game: "2011 marks the 150th Anniversary of Sale FC, so we’re delighted the RFU has decided to appoint us to host this prestigious game in this important year for the Club.
"We staged the England U18 v Australian Schools International last season and a packed Heywood Road enjoyed a fantastic game so we’re hoping for another great day.
"There’s local interest if you’re a Sale Sharks fan as their Academy Centre Mark Jennings is currently starring for the U18s and last year Sharks Academy player and former Lymm High School student Tommy Bell scored the winning try.”
England U18 have only lost once in three years and many of their past players, including Courtney Lawes, have progressed through the ranks of age group rugby to become stars of the current full senior England team.
England U18 Head Coach John Fletcher adds: “We’re really looking forward to heading up to Sale for our match against Italy – it’s a great venue and the fans will be passionate. The Italians always put up a good fight and we’ll have to be at our best if we want to get another win under our belt.
"This season’s squad is quite a lot different to last year but we enjoyed a good win over in Ireland and we’re looking to build on that against Italy.”
