The London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games has confirmed that it is on track to complete the process of taking payment for London 2012 Paralympic tickets by the end of October.
Ballots have now been run across 117 price categories in 80 sessions and on Tuesday 18th October, LOCOG will begin the process of taking payments from Visa cards (debit, credit and prepaid) and cashing cheques and postal orders.
Subject to payment, it is anticipated that more than 100,000 people will be allocated approximately 800,000 tickets to the London 2012 Paralympic Games, meaning around 9 out of 10 applicants are likely to receive some or all of the tickets they applied for, subject to payment.
Including sales to international visitors and other client groups such as sponsors, over 1,000,000 tickets have now been sold for the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
LOCOG CEO Paul Deighton said: ‘We were thrilled by the response to Paralympic Games tickets and since the application process closed our teams have been working hard to run the required ballots, ready to begin the process of taking payments and allocating tickets.’
‘We are on track to complete payments by the end of the month ready to inform people what tickets they have by 18 November.’
The application process for Paralympic tickets ran between 9th September and 26th September 2011 and saw unprecedented interest in the Games, with 116,000 people making applications for 1,146,000 tickets.
16 sports were oversubscribed at least one price category and therefore went to ballot.
The most popular sports were Athletics, Swimming and Track Cycling.
Remaining Paralympic Games tickets, including some sport Medal sessions and Ceremonies will go back on sale on a first come, first served basis later this year.
