Fifa signs billion-dollar US TV deals
Fifa has awarded its television contracts for the 2015-2022 period in the USA in deals reportedly worth more than a billion dollars.
Fox, whose deal included radio rights) and NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Media, whose Spanish-language deal excludes radio rights, have acquired the exclusive rights to Fifa World Cup football across all platforms from 2015 to 2022, which includes the 2018 and 2022 Fifa World Cups, the 2015and 2019 Fifa Women’s World Cups, and other Fifa events.
According to reports, Telemundo Media is paying around $600 million for its deal, with Fox paying more than $400 million, guaranteeing the world governing body more than $1 billion over the seven-year period.
Meanwhile, Fútbol de Primera Radio has acquired the Spanish-language radio rights.
