Chairman's Teesside trip

David Bernstein was in the north-east at the weekend

FA Chairman David Bernstein made a trip to Teesside this weekend, as part of a programme of visits to see both the grassroots and professional games in action across the country first hand.

Ahead of attending Middlesbrough’s Championship game with Watford at the Riverside Stadium, he was given a tour of grassroots football clubs in the region and met local representatives of the game in the North East.

His first stop was Stockton Town Football Club, an FA Charter Standard Community Club where he was told how the club is achieving excellent results by positioning itself in the very heart of the community.

He also viewed the club’s first class facilities which were part funded by The Football Foundation.

Following that, he then stopped at Kader FC and Whinney Banks YCC. Kader is another FA Charter Standard Community Club, which is based in Middlesbrough and oversees a total of 27 teams from U7 level up to Senior Football whilst Whinney Banks YCC are a Charter Standard Club which houses 12 teams from U7 level to Senior.
